Disasters and crises have a negative effect on everyone involved. People die and are injured, lose their families and their livelihoods. But if you are a woman, and particularly if you are an adolescent, disasters and crises may put you at greater risk than if you are male; especially in those societies where girls are already less privileged than their brothers.
