Dr. Limiaa Ahmed

Dr. Limiaa Ahmed is a policy analyst and women's rights activist with extensive experience in advocating for sustainable development, gender equality and women's rights, including sexual and reproductive health and rights. She is currently the Senior Program Director of Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA), a rights-based civil society organization that is one of the leading providers of sexual and reproductive health services throughout Sudan. SFPA is a Member Association of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and one of the founders of the IPPF Arab World Region.

The women of Sudan have been resolute in our calls for peace and an end to all violence against civilians, including all acts of sexual and gender-based violence. I am today appealing to the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan to escalate diplomatic efforts to urge parties to the conflict to end the war and prioritize a peaceful solution to the crisis.

At the Security Council

Dr. Limiaa Ahmed, Senior Program Director of Sudan Family Planning Association, was invited to provide a civil society perspective and recommendations when the Security Council met to discuss the situation in Sudan in June 2024.
